It should be noted that NOAA has noticed continuity issues between the Topography of the Sea Surface grids realized through GEOID03 utilized in the three project areas below:
- Eastern Louisiana - Mississippi, Version01 (LAmobile01)
- Alabama - Florida - Gulf of Mexico from Mobile Bay to East of Choctawhatchee Bay, Version01 (ALFL_gom01), and
- Alabama - Mobile Bay, Version01 (ALmobile01) project areas.
Maximum departures of 0.04 meters have been noticed between LAmobile01 and ALmobile01 project areas.
Maximum departures of 0.19 meters have been noticed between LAmobile01 and ALFL_gom01 project areas.
These continuity issues can be attributed to recent updates of elevation information in the Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama that were not originally incorporated into the VDatum project areas. Also, there are several new data that have been made available since the ALFL_gom1 and ALmobile01 project areas were constructed. These discrepancies have been noticed, and NOAA is currently looking to resolve these discontinuity issues with updated Topography of the Sea Surface grids.
